Their wedding day, held in crystal.

Only from Crystal House

A photograph inside crystal. On a base made for it.

Most 3D wedding photographs are sold as a block of crystal sitting on a wooden base with a light inside it. Ours arrives as one complete crystal presentation.

  1. Preserved inside optical crystal

A premium 3D photograph formed beneath the surface by subsurface laser engraving. Nothing is cut into the crystal. The image lives in the middle of it.

  2. Mounted on a coordinating fine-crystal base

Weight, clarity and finish matched to the piece it holds, so the whole object reads as one thing rather than two.

  3. Further personalized for the two of you

Names, wedding date, monogram, a line from the vows, a family crest or your own artwork, engraved into the base itself.

  4. Finished as a complete wedding heirloom

Engraved, mounted, proofed and packed in one studio in Aurora, Illinois.

Drag to turn it

Type your own. The engraving on the base updates as you go. This is the part a standard 3D producer cannot make.

Their machine needs a flat surface. Ours does not.

A 3D photo producer buys a blank, runs one process and ships it. The blank has to be flat and parallel because that is what the laser requires. Everything after that is an accessory bought from someone else. Crystal House runs the 3D laser, the sand carving room and the polishing bench under one roof, which is why the base can be crystal and can carry your names.

Surfaces they can engrave
Flat, parallel, compatible faces. The geometry is set by what the machine can hold and focus through.
Flat faces, and curved, beveled, tapered and irregular crystal. Decanters, bowls, vases and bases are all fair game.
Processes in one piece
One. 3D subsurface laser, on the blank as delivered.
Three, combined. 3D subsurface laser, deep sand carving and surface laser engraving on the same finished presentation.
What the crystal stands on
A bought-in wooden base with an LED in it, chosen from a supplier catalogue.
A coordinating fine-crystal base, matched in weight and clarity, mounted here.
What can be personalized
The photograph.
The photograph, and the base: names, wedding date, monogram, a sentiment, a crest, a logo, custom artwork.
What arrives
A blank with an image in it, on a stand.
One complete crystal presentation, proofed before anything is cut and packed in Aurora.

A competitor can buy the same 3D laser tomorrow. What they cannot buy is a sand carving room, a polishing bench, and twenty-seven years of mounting crystal to crystal.

A note from Elias

Hi. I'm Elias, and I have been engraving other people's love stories since 1999.

Twenty-seven years. Thousands of weddings. And I still get a little nervous every time a box leaves the studio, because I know what's in it isn't glass. It's the first dance. It's your mother's face when she reads the date. It's the thing that will be on a shelf long after the cake is gone and the dress is in a bag somewhere.

So here's my promise, and it's the same one I've made to every couple since the shop was a single bench in Aurora, Illinois: nothing gets engraved until you've seen a proof and told me it's perfect. Standard personalization is on us. If your wedding is in three weeks and I can't make it in time, I will tell you the truth instead of taking your money. And if you call, a human answers. Usually me. Occasionally my wife, who is better at it.

We engrave the brands you already love, Orrefors, Nambé, Vista Alegre, because you shouldn't have to choose between a beautiful gift and a personal one. You get both. That's the whole idea.

Send me a name, a date, a photo. Let's make something they'll never put away.

EliasFounder, Crystal House · Aurora, Illinois

P.S. The one thing we cannot engrave is a misspelled name, so please, for both our sakes, check it twice.

How it's made

Three ways we make it yours.

Deep sand carvingThe Crystal House signature · since 1999

Our oldest craft. Abrasive cut through a hand-placed mask, so the design is carved into the glass with a depth you can feel. Chapter V was made this way.

Precision laser engravingFine detail

Names, dates, monograms, wedding-party gifts and intricate artwork on flutes, glassware and barware. Chapters II, III and IV.

Eight collections. Chosen, not listed.

Every piece here is a brand you already know, transformed by our engraving. We pick the strongest few for each part of a wedding instead of handing over the whole catalogue. Choose a collection, or answer four questions below and we will choose for you.

If you are not sure

Tell us four things. We will choose.

You should not have to browse a catalogue to buy a wedding gift. Answer these and we will name three pieces, the engraving we would put on each, and how long each one takes.

Who is it for
The occasion
Their taste
What you want to spend

Answer the four above and we will pick three.

Every recommendation includes complimentary standard personalization and an artwork proof before anything is cut.

Questions couples ask us.

Is personalization really complimentary?

Standard personalization (names, dates, a monogram, a line of text) is included on eligible pieces. You only pay for the crystal. Custom artwork and 3D photo work are quoted with your proof.

Can you engrave a brand-name piece like Orrefors or Nambé?

Yes. That's the whole idea. Choose the piece they'll recognize, and we personalize it in our studio.

What's the difference between sand carving and laser?

Sand carving cuts deep into the glass; you can feel it. Surface laser is finer and better for small text and detail. Photographs are different again: those are done with 3D subsurface laser engraving, which forms the image inside the crystal without cutting the surface at all. We'll recommend the right one for your piece with the proof.

What does the 3D photo crystal sit on?

A coordinating fine-crystal base, not a wooden box with a light in it. We choose a base that matches the crystal in weight and clarity, then engrave it with your names, your wedding date, a monogram, a sentiment or your own artwork. Most 3D producers cannot do this: their machines need flat, compatible surfaces, and a curved or beveled crystal base is not something they can hold or focus through.

Can you sand carve a photograph into crystal?

We do not offer that, and we would steer you away from it even if you asked. A photograph reproduced by sand carving is highly specialized, extremely expensive custom work. Today's 3D subsurface laser engraving reproduces a photograph inside optical crystal with far more detail, at a fraction of the cost. We save deep sand carving for what it does best: monograms, names, dates and artwork cut into decanters, bowls and vases with a depth you can feel.

When should I order?

Six to eight weeks before the wedding is ideal. Three to five is very doable for engraved glassware; 3D crystal gets tighter. Under three weeks, email orders@crystalhouse.us with the date and we'll tell you the truth.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. Every piece is packed the way we'd pack our own crystal. Chicago-area couples can also pick up in Aurora.
