A sculptural vase with an enormous visual impact, Gryphus recreates the monster of pre-Greek antiquity with a lion’s body and an eagle’s head, in a stylized and dynamic interpretation. Two majestic creatures, of the air and of the earth, in a timeless set, which could equally have originated in a distant past, in contemporary times or in an indefinite future. The gold used in the creature’s nests is symbolized by matte gold filaments, combined with tracery in relief with a simple and elegant geometry. Like the griffin, this piece is associated with the notions of art and intelligence that dominated Classical Antiquity.
